What/Who is Movynator(MOVY)?

First things first; Movynator is the name of our project. MOVY is the name of our cuty & pinky robot. You will be seeing these names on our website, app and across the web. So, do not get confused :)

Movynator is a free to use platform for you to discover your new favorite movies. MOVY uses special algorithms to recommend movies similar to selected movie. What makes our algorithms special is; instead of recommending exactly similar movies, trying to perceive your taste and making recommendations accordingly. In this way, when you choose the horror movie, it can even recommend you a comedy movie. Don't be surprised, give it a try :)

Movynator also have different options to discover movies:

  • Recommendations:

    Movies that are liked by MOVY, are recommended for you to watch.

  • Daily Random Movies:

    MOVY randomly selects 3 movies for each day. Randomly does not mean awful movies can be selected. MOVY has a special algorithm to select daily random movies.

  • Weekly Random Movies:

    MOVY randomly selects 3 movies for each week on sundays. Randomly does not mean awful movies can be selected. MOVY has a special algorithm to select weekly random movies.

Our main job is keeping MOVY as stable as possible. We are constantly developing new features for Movynator. We have a massive database to operate on. Movynator runs on a small-scale server for now. Better algorithms to make more relevant recommendations are ready to implement but our server cannot handle the complexity of these algorithms since our database is massive.
